What is the cancellation policy? | Students must provide their instructor with 48 hours notice when cancelling a lesson. The full lesson fee is payable for any lessons cancelled less than 48 hours before the scheduled lesson time. |

How many lessons do I need before going for my driving test? | There is no minimum lessons required by law; everyone has a different learning ability. It also depends on the frequency of lessons and previous experience. Keep in mind, we at Gain Experience Driving, suggest that you have a discussion with your instructor after one or two lessons to give you an idea on how many more lessons you may need before your test. |
What’s the MyLearners Log application all about? | The MyLearners Log app is available for use to all learner drivers between 18 and 20 years of age and can be downloaded from the app stores on your phone/tablet. The learner driver is required to record the number of hours of driving, types of driving, and road conditions. Learner drivers must have a minimum of 20 hours of night driving, please keep in mind the change in seasons, as this will determine when night driving hours start. What do I need to bring to my first lesson? | It is a legal requirement that students carry their learners permit whilst driving on Victorian roads, and students will need to carry their logbooks or MyLearners app where applicable. You must also bring/wear glasses or corrective lenses if required for driving. |
Do you provide vehicles for lessons, or do I need my own car? | We do not provide training in personal cars. At Gain Experience Driving, we prioritize safety and quality training for all our students. To ensure the highest level of safety during your driving lessons, we exclusively use our fleet of vehicles, which are equipped with dual controls and fully insured. This not only provides a safer learning environment but also allows our experienced instructors to intervene if necessary, helping to prevent accidents and ensuring effective instruction. Charging for our services in a client's personal car is not in line with our commitment to safety and professionalism. We are dedicated to providing the best possible training experience, and using our school's vehicles is a key part of achieving that goal. Our instructors hold a formal qualification in car driving instruction and have full comprehensive insurance, including Public Liability. |

Do I need to have any prior experience before taking a driving lessons? | No. Prior experience is not required: Gain Experience Driving welcomes students of all experience levels. Is it possible to take lessons without a Learner Permit? | To enrol in our driving lessons, you must possess a valid learner permit, which can be in the form of a Learner Card or a Temporary slip. This permit is essential to ensure that you meet the necessary legal requirements for learning to drive. |
Can I take the VicRoads test in my instructor’s car? | Yes, you have the option to use your instructor's car for the VicRoads drive test. Using your instructor's car for the VicRoads drive test can provide a familiar and comfortable environment. If you have any specific questions or would like to discuss this option further, please don't hesitate to contact us. |
Can a parent/guardian sit in on a lesson? | Yes, parents/guardians can sit in the backseat of a learner’s lesson or part thereof if desired. This gives you a chance to observe a lesson in progress, pick up any tips and tricks to support you as a supervising driver and get to know your instructor a little better. After sitting in on one lesson we recommend leaving it over to instructor and student to ensure they can focus on developing their road craft skills without too many distractions. If you would like to sit in on a lesson, please discuss options with your instructor. |
